Most SAU chemistry graduates are successful in finding jobs. In the chemistry department's most recent alumni survey, 98% of respondents indicated that they were employed in a chemistry-related profession. All stated that their undergraduate education had prepared them well for the future and that they were glad they had attended SAU.
The salary range for a chemist is between $64,000 to more than $100,000, depending on the industry. Studying structures and chemical properties of materials is another way to use your chemistry degree. In that occupation, materials scientists earn around $91,000/year (median wage).*
The Chemistry Department offers a variety of internship opportunities that place you as a part-time employee in settings ranging from a crime lab to a water analysis facility to a nuclear power plant.
Participating in an internship will help you to apply classroom learning to actual practice, develop attitudes and skills required of professional chemists, and become more confident about your career goals.
