When not working with the Communication students at St. Ambrose University, Don "Duke" Schneider is usually still found behind the lens of a video camera. Whether shooting video at an SAU event or covering regional news and sports, Schneider is most comfortable working in a career he loves.
A 1976 St. Ambrose graduate, he started working in the media at St. Ambrose's own KALA radio station and quickly added part time jobs at KRVR radio in Davenport and KBKB radio in his hometown of Ft. Madison, Iowa. Duke returned to St. Ambrose as an instructor in 1979 and has been there ever since, teaching courses in radio and TV production and technology.
He completed his Master's degree at the University of Iowa and has worked freelance in a variety of productions for clients like ESPN, CBS, ABC, TBS Sports, Mediacom, John Deere Television and the local Quad Cities television stations. An amateur radio operator (WDØAMA), he is a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, the Iowa Broadcast News Association and the Davenport Radio Amateur Club.
