Dave O'Connell joined the faculty of St. Ambrose University in 1998. He earned a DBA in Organizational Behavior from Boston University.

Dr. O'Connell has had articles accepted at the Journal of Management Education, Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies, Leadership and Organizational Development Journal, Organization Management Journal, and The CASE Journal. He also published a book review in Administrative Science Quarterly. His research has included contingent employment success factors, team development, leadership, adaptability and case pedagogy. 

Dr. O'Connell has been actively involved in the Midwest Academy of Management, serving as chair of two tracks: Case Research and HR & Careers. He has also occasionally served as a consultant and trainer to organizations in strategic planning, employee job satisfaction and supervisor development.

Prior to doctoral studies, Dr. O'Connell served the Public Service Company of New Mexico in a number of communications and research capacities, from 1979 through 1993. While a graduate student at Boston University, he worked with the Executive Development Roundtable, the Human Resources Policy Institute and the Boston University School of Public Health.

At St. Ambrose University, Dr. O'Connell has taught Organizational Behavior, Organizational Theory, Organizational Culture, Conflict and Negotiation, Research Methods I and co-taught a special topics course on Careers in the DBA program. He also teaches MBA and undergraduate courses in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior.
