David Roediger, the Kendrick C. Babcock Professor of History at the University of Illinois-Champaign, will be this year's speaker for the Geiger Chair of History Lecture. Roediger will present, "United States Uprising: The Self-Emancipation of Slaves and the Spread of Jubilee after the Civil War," at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Rogalski Center Ballroom. The lecture, part of the Race Matters project, is free and open to the public with a reception following.
