Dienesch is a Professor of Managerial Studies in the College of Business. Dr. Dienesch officially "retired" in Spring 2015, but he will continue to teach some courses in the College of Business.

His primary areas of teaching are Organizational Behavior and Leadership, International and Cross-Cultural Management, and Business Strategy. His research interests started in Leadership, Group Dynamics and Organizational Development. In the early 90s he added a focus in Cross-Cultural Management.

He teaches at both the master's and undergraduate level. Dienesch is fluent in German.

Dr. Dienesch has also served St. Ambrose in the capacity of Dean of the College of Business for six years, ending in 2007. In that capacity he had academic administrative and leadership responsibility for both the undergraduate and graduate programs of the college. Before coming to St. Ambrose, he was the Assistant Dean for Evening/Weekend Programs at Marian College of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. 

Prior to entering academic administration in 1995, Dienesch served on the faculties in management or business administration at Loyola University-Chicago, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, and the University of Akron in Ohio, with a stop out to earn his doctorate. He has also consulted regularly in many areas of expertise in a number of states.

Born in Austria, Dienesch immigrated with his family to the United States at age eight, and grew up in the Detroit, Michigan area.

In his off-time he likes reading (especially history and historical novels), bicycling, and watching movies (particularly international films) in theaters and on DVD. Dienesch also likes to spend time with his wife and three adult children.
