St. Ambrose University's Master of Education in Teaching is the only master's program in the Quad Cities for teachers focused on the professional teaching outcomes identified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Teachers who choose to become certified by the National Board join an elite group of less than three percent of teachers nationwide. And they consider the process as the "best professional development" of their careers. With an emphasis on increasing student achievement, developing teacher leaders and fostering professional integrity, Ambrose graduate students get the knowledge and credentials for career change and advancement.
In this "three-for-one program," students earn a master's degree, complete a portfolio for National Board certification and may also receive a reading endorsement. This endorsement is just one more way that teachers can make themselves more marketable and demonstrate they're prepared to meet the needs of a diverse group of students.
