Presenter Biographies

Brenda Hughes, MA, OTR/L became an occupational therapist in 1992 after studying at the University of Southern California. Her background includes working with older adults in long term and home health care as well as adults in rehabilitation settings. Brenda teaches content related to the history and theories of occupational therapy, research and care of older adults. She additionally serves as an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator.

Lynn Kilburg, DHSc, MBA, OTR/L received her degree in occupational therapy from St. Ambrose in 1991 and has continued study in health policy and management receiving a doctor of Health Science in 2005. Her clinical and management background has been in settings working with children, older adults, and injured workers. Lynn teaches leadership and management content as well as courses dealing with older adults and research and is the director of the Occupational Therapy Department at St. Ambrose.

Erin Phillips, MSOT, OTR/L, CYT received her master's in occupational therapy in 1991 from Washington University and she is a certified Yoga instructor. Her backgrounds includes clinical practice with adults addressing work and hand injuries as well as adults and older adults in rehabilitation, long term, and home health settings. Erin teaches content related to adult interventions and health and wellness.

Terry Schlabach, PhD, OTR/L, BCP received her degree in occupational therapy from Colorado State in 1975 and has continued study in instructional design and higher education and received her PhD from Illinois State University in 2008. Her clinical expertise is in Pediatrics and is Board Certified in Pediatrics by the AOTA. Terry teaches content related to pediatrics and neuroscience.

Jill Schmidt, OTD, OTR/L received her degree in occupational therapy from St. Ambrose in 1994 and continued her study in health services and OT and received her OTD from Creighton University in 2010. Her practice background is in rehabilitation, low vision, care for older adults and service management. Jill teaches content related to older adults, research and low vision.

Jon Turnquist, MOL, OTR/L, ATP received his degrees from St. Ambrose in occupational therapy in 1992 and a master's of Organizational Leadership in 2010. He has specialized in assistive technology throughout is clinical and academic career and worked with individuals of all ages to support function in daily living. He is the director of the Assistive Technology Outreach Services at St. Ambrose.

Christine Urish, PhD, OTR/L, BCMH, FAOTA received her degree in occupational therapy in 1989 from Western Michigan University. She advanced her education in OT and also received a PhD in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Iowa in 2005. Her clinical expertise is in psychosocial interventions and she is Board Certified in Mental Health by the AOTA. She teaches content related to psychosocial interventions and fundamentals of occupational therapy practice.

Katie Jo Wedeking, MOT, OTR/L received her degree in occupational therapy from St. Ambrose in 2011. She is employed with Covenant Medical Center in their Inpatient Rehabilitation Center and works with a large variety of rehab patients with an emphasis on providing Assistive Technology and low tech adaptations. Katie Jo has developed a St. Ambrose/Covenant partnership to provide assistive technology resources to patients within the Cedar Valley area.
