Our undergraduate courses in Spanish are designed to lead students through the following sequence:

1. from basic competence in written and spoken Spanish,
2. through greater understanding of the structure of the language and literary and cultural achievements of the Spanish-speaking world,
3. to career preparation and independent research and study.

Spanish faculty members strive to maintain a program with a strong balance between topics of study and Spanish-speaking regions of the world. Our faculty expertise and course offerings span the academic areas of linguistics, literature, cultural studies, and special topics, and the geographic areas of Spain and the Spanish-speaking Americas.
