The OTD Program offers study abroad opportunities in Ecuador and Brazil as special topics courses (3 credits - approximately 3 weeks) within the OTD curriculum. During these experiences, students and faculty travel to the country to work and study. Students live with host families for immersion into the culture, attend "survival courses" in the native language along with OT courses, and participate in a service learning project.
OTD students also have an opportunity to study abroad for one of their two Level II fieldwork experiences (12 weeks). These opportunities are chosen very selectively and after analysis to ensure an excellent learning experience that meets all Level II fieldwork objectives for the program and accreditation. Experiences have occurred in Ireland and Germany in the past.
Prior to entering the OTD program, interested students can engage in a semester long study abroad experience in Ireland. A plan of study is individually determined to ensure that courses will align with the needed general education, pre-requisite, and baccalaureate degree courses the student needs.
