In conjunction with the Scott County Jail, Ambrose professor Andrew Kaiser, PhD, has developed an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience with parts of the research process.
Forensic psychology majors currently have the opportunity to enter, analyze, and interpret data gathered from inmates at the county jail. When appropriate, students observe interviews with inmates to learn about clinical interviewing (and some students have learned enough to complete interviews with inmates). One goal for collecting this data is to study recidivism. St. Ambrose students are encouraged to work with faculty in the Psychology Department to use this data in the development of research projects.
