Students who complete a Theology major will be able to:

  • demonstrate a variety of critical methods of Biblical Interpretation;
  • apply critical theological methods to Christian Tradition;
  • reflect on the relationship between theology and practice;
  • and describe key ideas of diverse theological perspectives.

Thus, students will be prepared to live their own lives of active faith and serve others within the faith community.

Start with one class; stay for the major

"I took Theology at first as just a general education requirement, but I loved it so much I made it my major," said Brendan Bakala, a double major in Theology and History. "Theology at St. Ambrose has so many different aspects, comprising spirituality, ethics, history, belief and so much more, making it a field worth studying."

Theology courses are also part of three interdisciplinary minors – Environmental Studies, Peace and Justice, and Catholic Studies – and the concentration in Youth Ministry.
