Theology Programs

Chapel at night

Students who complete a theology degree will be able to:

  • Engage in a variety of critical methods of biblical interpretation
  • Apply critical theological methods to Christian tradition
  • Reflect on the relationship between theology and practice
  • Describe key ideas of diverse theological perspectives

In addition to being prepared to live lives of active faith and service within their faith communities, our graduates leave St. Ambrose ready to approach the challenges of the world, and their diverse career paths, in thoughtful and creative ways.

Start with one class; stay for the major

"I took Theology at first as just a general education requirement, but I loved it so much I made it my major," said Brendan Bakala, a double major in Theology and History. "Theology at St. Ambrose has so many different aspects, comprising spirituality, ethics, history, belief and so much more, making it a field worth studying."

Theology courses are also part of five interdisciplinary minors – Women and Gender StudiesEnvironmental Studies, Justice and Peace StudiesCatholic Studies, Classical Studies – and the concentration in Youth Ministry.
