Welcome from Paul Koch, PhD

Welcome to the Office of Academic and Student Affairs at St. Ambrose University! Our role is to ensure
that we provide students with effective learning environments both in and out of the classroom. We
strongly believe that,

"Learning is at the heart of the student experience at St. Ambrose University and occurs in
multiple contexts, including the academic curriculum, student services, clubs and organizations,
and athletics in local, national, and international communities. We are first and foremost
educators, and as an integrated Academic and Student Affairs team, we work toward creating a
holistic student learning environment using common learning outcomes."

We define a holistic learning environment as one that, "...provides opportunities for students to learn
through inquiry, reflection, and emotional and social engagement in curricular and co-curricular
contexts." To this end, we have been working to more fully integrate Academic and Student Affairs at
St. Ambrose to ensure that students have every opportunity to succeed in learning wherever they find
themselves, and that their lives are enriched in a manner that allows them to enrich the lives of others.
