GENERAL Q&A

Provided for Homecoming 2017
What hotel do you recommend?

  • The preferred hotel of St. Ambrose University is the Best Western PLUS SteepleGate Inn, located just off I-80 on the north side of Davenport. Information about the hotel and rates can be found here.
  • There are a number of other hotels in town that may fit your needs. Some may offer a special rate if you mention you are returning for SAU's Homecoming.

Will the bookstore be open?

  • Yes!  The hours are Friday from 9am to 7pm and Saturday from 9am to 2pm, and again from 5-7 pm.  It will be closed on Sunday.  The bookstore is located on the bottom level of the Rogalski Center and is always available online.

Will I be able to see Fr. Catich's work while I am on campus?

Yes! The University is pleased to display much of Fr. Catich's work throughout campus. While you are visiting St. Ambrose, consider stopping by the following areas to appreciate his work:

  • Christ the King Chapel - Stations of the Cross and numerous pieces in the gathering space
  • Library - some slates are located on the 1st floor and additional work is on the 3rd floor. Library staff will be able to assist you.
  • Rogalski Center - a number of water colors can be viewed on the 3rd floor, near the entrance of the ballroom.
  • In addition, you can view the Catich Collection Digital Archive anywhere, any time.

What buildings will be open during Homecoming weekend?

  • Galvin Fine Arts Center, the Library, the 1st floor and lower level of Cosgrove Hall, Christ the King Chapel, lower level of Ambrose Hall (Beehive), the Wellness and Recreation Center/PE Center, and the Rogalski Center will be open through most of the weekend.
  • Ambrose Hall and McMullen Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, allowing alumni the chance to reminisce. 
  • All our residence halls require keycard access at all times for our students' safety.
  •  All off-campus buildings, including the Center for Health Sciences and the Dome will not be accessible.

What events are planned for the weekend?

Who are the Bees playing on Saturday?

  • Univ. of St. Francis (IL) at 1PM.  Make sure to be at the stadium by 12:40 pm to see the pregame show!

Will campus tours be available?

  • Yes, students will lead walking tours at 9, 9:30 and 10 a.m. on Saturday.  Meet at the Rogalski Center (east entrance) to see what's new.  If you are  looking for tours of just the Wellness and Recreation Center, those tours will be leaving at the same time and location as the full campus tours.

 

What is the suggested attire, parking, RSVP policy, etc. for the weekend's events?

  • Each event has different criteria. Please check your specific event for these details. Casual attire is acceptable unless otherwise noted.

Where can I park on campus that weekend?

  • All parking areas will be open during the weekend and guests are welcome to choose the lot most convenient for their plans.  However, it's important to note that while parking spots will be available, those closest to the Rogalski Center might be at a premium.  For those that are able to walk a short distance, we recommend parking in the lots across from the Galvin Fine Arts Center and McMullen Hall (on the other side of Gaines Street).

REUNION SPECIFIC Q&A

What reunions are being celebrated this year?

    • 1967 Men/Emeritus (50th), Bees of the Last Decade (2007-2017), Track Team, Baseball Team, Engineering & Physicals, Occupational Therapy, MOT Class of 2007, Dance Team, Lacrosse Team, Romecoming, MSW, Nursing Department, and Dance Marathon

Are the nurses celebrating a reunion this year?

    • The Nurses of 1957 and 1962 will be attending the Emeritus Reunion on September 30 to celebrate their 60th  and 55th reunions respectively.  

Who is invited to the Emeritus reunion?

    • Anyone who has graduated prior to 1968.

Can I still come back if it isn't my reunion year?

    • Yes, we understand that your graduation year may not be the year (or only year) with which you identify. All we ask is that you RSVP for the reunion you plan to attend. If you wish to change your reunion year, please let our office know so you can be alerted of activities related to your preferred years.

Are RSVPs required for the reunion?

    • In order to provide a quality experience, we ask that those attending their reunion send an RSVP online or contact the Alumni Office at 800-SAU-ALUM.

 Can I pay the day of the reunion?

    • Many reunions have reduced pricing for paying early which may affect your decision. Please check out the Event Store for details on your specific reunion. 
    • BOLD and Stingers will accept payment at the door, but it will be $20 instead of $15.
    • Emeritus will accept payment at the door ($40/person), but to get the $30 price, attendees must pay before Sept. 9.

What type of accommodations can be made? 

    • 1966/Emeritus - The Rogalski Center is handicap accessible, and dietary accommodations can be made if Alumni staff are alerted one week prior to the event.
    • BOLD - The Alumni House is handicap accessible. Dietary accommodations are not possible due to the hors d'oeuvres layout of this menu.  
    • All other reunions - contact the party in charge for more details.

Can I bring my children?

    • Children are invited to many of our Homecoming festivities, but the Emeritus and BOLD reunions are limited to adult guests.  For all other reunions, please contact the party in charge for this question.

Will weather affect the reunions?

    •  All reunions will happen rain or shine with no alternate location needed.
