Anne Gannaway

Vice President for Institutional Advancement

As the vice president for Institutional Advancement, Anne oversees functions in the Advancement & Alumni Office, including the SAU Wine Festival events.

My connection to St. Ambrose: I guess you could say that I "grew up" on campus. My dad was an administrator and my parents dragged my brothers and me to many St. Ambrose events. My best memories include being the water girl for the women's basketball team when I was younger (1984-89) and getting married and baptizing our children in the chapel. My husband teaches at St. Ambrose, so now we bring our kids to many St. Ambrose events. My dad, two uncles, aunt, cousin, and brother attended St. Ambrose so we have a great legacy to continue. I have a true affinity for St. Ambrose and want to be a part of its success; I began my career at St. Ambrose in June 2012 and my husband teaches in the History Department.

What I like about my job: I like to hear the stories and experiences of our alumni, as well as reconnecting them with each other and their alma mater. My favorite events are Bee Happy Hour, because it gathers so many groups across the nation to reconnect to St. Ambrose, and Wine Festival, because enjoying a great glass of wine while raising money for student scholarships is a great combination!

Most commonly asked question: I have two: How's your dad (Ed Henkhaus) and what's new at St. Ambrose? My dad is doing well and enjoying retirement. He spends his time traveling and enjoying friends and family. And there's a lot new at St. Ambrose. We always have news about new students, programs, buildings, and our alumni. The constant is the relationship students, faculty, staff, and alumni have with each other and their communities. That's what makes us Ambrosians.
