About Bible & Justice

In 2013, St. Ambrose University hosted its first Bible & Justice conference, focused on how Biblical texts might address modern justice concerns, especially in the areas of gender, empire, poverty and the environment.

Conference speakers included Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza, Richard Horsley, Elsa Tamez and David Horrell.

This international conference brought together scholars, clergy, students, and advocates of justice from around the world, and worked to foster discussion about the relevance of the Bible to modern social issues, while promoting bridges between the academic study of the Bible and the various endeavors for a just world. The proceedings divided into four main areas: gender, empire, poverty, and the environment.
