International Graduate Admissions

At St. Ambrose, we truly value the unique perspectives and new thinking that international students bring to the graduate classroom. International students in our graduate programs find that small class sizes and a focus on teaching help to foster their academic success. To use that very American phrase, it's a "win-win!" We invite you to explore our graduate programs and begin the admission process by following the steps below.

Admissions Deadlines

• For students with a current F-1 visa: Admission deadlines are set by individual graduate departments. If the graduate department does not have an admission deadline, then applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
• For students without a current F-1 visa: June 1 for August admission; November 1 for January admission.

Step 1

• Master of Education in Teaching
• Master of Education in Educational Administration
• Master of Science in Information Technology Management
• Master of Speech Language Pathology
• Master of Occupational Therapy
• Doctor of Physical Therapy
• Doctor of Business Administration

Step 2

Send us your application materials:

1. Application for graduate admissions. Please note that if you do not have a Social Security Number, you can simply leave that field blank.
2. Evidence of your Grade Point Average. If you have completed undergraduate coursework in the US, we will need to see official transcripts from these instutions. If any part of your undergraduate education was undertaken outside of the US, then we will also need to see evidence of the Grade Point Average (GPA) equivalent from that course work. We will work with the graduate programs on this, who have individual requirements on how the GPA equivalent is obtained.
3. Evidence of English proficiency.
4. A copy of your passport photo page and immigration documents, including your US visa, both sides of your I-94, and your current I-20 (if you have these).
5. Any further requirements of the graduate programs.

Step 3

International Student Services will work with the graduate faculty, who will make a decision on your admission. Both offices may communicate with you to request additional documentation, and both offices can assist with queries you may have.

Step 4

If you are accepted, International Student Services will then send you a personalized Declaration of Finances form. On this, you'll need to confirm how you are able to fund a full academic year here. You need to return this document to us with supporting financial documents, such as bank statements and letters of sponsorship.

Step 5

Congratulations! You have completed the admission process! If you already have an F-1 visa, you will receive a welcome e-mail which explains how your SEVIS file will transfer to us from your current institution. If you do not have an F-1 visa, you will be sent a welcome packet in the mail that contains your new Form I-20. This will be required for your visa interview.
