SSNA is a local group affiliated with the Iowa Association of Nursing Students; every Nursing student holds membership in the National Student Nurses' Association. Student nurses take part in activities to build professionalism and understanding about the field of nursing. Students are also given the opporutnity to impact policies related to nursing by writing and submitting resolutions to the constituency at the annual state conventions.

The student part of the American OT Association that actively promotes OT, community service and social outings. SOTA has donated toys for children in Ecuador, helped at Special Olympics, provided bingo at a nursing home, set up an OT promotional display, and attended the national OT conference.
