Here in Academic and Career Planning, we offer a wide variety of events, workshops, and services to help you navigate each step of that journey.

We encourage all students to start preparing for their professional career as early as their first year of college so that they can be fully equipped with the tools they need to enter the next phase of their professional lives after graduation.

Career Fair Prep Week: Resume Reviews, Mock Interviews & More

Hosted in the Fall and Spring | Recommended attire: Business professional

During Career Fair Prep Week, local employers and Academic and Career Planning staff prepare students to meet their professional goals through resume reviews, virtual mock interviews, and LinkedIn profile reviews.

Resume and LinkedIn profile reviews information will be sent to students via email. Mock Interviews require registration. Registration information will be set via SAU email. This event is open to undergraduate and graduate students in all majors.

Quad Cities College Career Fair

Hosted in the Fall and Spring | Recommended attire: Business professional

The Quad Cities College Career Fair is a premier event presented by St. Ambrose University, Augustana College, Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, Black Hawk College and Western Illinios University - Quad Cities. It connects students and alumni to prospective employers (both local and national), for job and internship opportunities.

Health Sciences Career and Networking Fair

Hosted in the Fall and Spring | Recommended attire: Business professional 

The Health Sciences Career and Networking Fair is an event presented by St. Ambrose University, connecting our students and alumni to fieldwork opportunities, internships, clinical experiences, and/or full-time employment in human performance and fitness, exercise physiology, exercise sciences, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, physician assistant studies, public health and social work.

Career Fairs are free for students to attend. Registration required for virtual events. 

Networking & Etiquette Dinner

Hosted Bi-annually in the Spring | Recommended attire: Business professional 

You will learn how to mind your manners in a professional setting during this presentation, dinner, and networking event.

I-74 Graduate & Professional School Fair

Recommended attire: Business professional 

Attend this fair to learn more about graduate and professional school programs so that you can choose the right fit for you! Contact the Academic and Career Planning Office for a list of schools participating in this event.

Employer Showcases

Recommended attire: Business casual

Attend these events to learn about local companies in your industry and the professional opportunities they have available.

Workshops

Attend these workshops to learn important information on everything ranging from how to search for internships to how to negotiate your salary, and more!

Internship Orientation

Not offered for 20-21 academic year. Contact careercenter@sau.edu to set up an appointment. 

Have you secured an internship? Make sure you attend this session to learn how to document it for EXPL 201 (non-credit notation on your transcript) or EXPL 202 (a FREE 1-credit P/F elective)! Be sure to bring your laptop or tablet to this workshop.

Salary Negotiation

Negotiating a salary is necessary, but not always easy. Attend this workshop to learn skills and tips on how to successfully navigate the negotiation conversation with your future employer.

Writing a Personal Statement for Graduate School

A personal statement is one of the most important pieces of a graduate school application. Attend this event to learn how to craft a statement that is sure to impress graduate school admission committees.

Career Decision-Making Group

First 4 weeks of Spring Semester | Rogalski Center, Academic and Career Planning Office, 2nd Floor 

Unsure about what you want to major in? Have a major, but want to learn more about the best career path for you within that major?

If you answered 'Yes' to either of those questions, then the Career Counseling Group may be for you.

This group meets 4 times (1x/week) during the spring semester to explore career options. We'll delve into your skills, interests, values and more so that you can feel confident moving forward in your professional journey.
