July 17-21, 2017

For students entering 7th or 8th grade in Fall 2017

For the ninth year, this unique collaboration between St. Ambrose University, local health care facilities and fitness agencies in the Quad Cities offers an exciting opportunity for middle school students to explore careers in health care.

What the Health Careers Adventure Camp Offers

During this day camp participants are introduced to a variety of  health professions. Students will experience firsthand the challenges, opportunities and rewards of health professions through hands-on learning sessions provided by faculty and practicing clinicians.

Campers will be supervised by faculty and students currently enrolled in the health science-educational programs. Job observation opportunities in different health care professions and disability awareness will be part of the camp experience.

The camp is underwritten in part by the Rock Island Community Foundation and the St. Ambrose University Health Sciences Career Fair.

Daily Schedule

Students will attend activities on the campus of St. Ambrose University and visit area health care agencies and clinics.

  • Campers can be dropped off at campus between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.
  • Activities led by health science faculty and students will be provided until camp begins at 8:30 a.m.
  • Camp ends at 4 p.m. each day
  • Camper supervision will be provided until 5 p.m.

Cost of the program is $200 until June 30. As of July 1, the cost is $225.

A limited number of scholarships are available at the discounted rate of $35 for students who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program.
