For students entering 7th or 8th grade in Fall 2015
For the eighth year, this unique collaboration between St. Ambrose University, local health care facilities and fitness agencies in the Quad Cities offers an exciting opportunity for middle school students to explore careers in health care.
During this day camp participants are introduced to a variety of health professions. Students will experience firsthand the challenges, opportunities and rewards of health professions through hands-on learning sessions provided by faculty and practicing clinicians.
Campers will be supervised by faculty and students currently enrolled in the health science-educational programs. Job shadow opportunities in different health care professions and disability awareness will be part of the camp experience.
The camp is underwritten in part by the Rock Island Community Foundation, the John Deere Foundation, and the St. Ambrose University Health Sciences Career Fair.
Students will attend activities on the campus of St. Ambrose University and visit area health care agencies and clinics.
The camp is open to any student entering the 7th or 8th grade during Fall 2015. On-site supervision, t-shirt, team bag, daily snack and lunch, transportation to and from job shadow experience, and program costs are included in the program fee.
Cost of the program is $200 until Tuesday, July 1. After July 1, the cost is $225.
A limited number of scholarships are available at the discounted rate of $35 for students who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program.
