The First Year Experience serves as a campus leader in facilitating the transition to college for first-year students and families. We promote and enhance student success through collaborative programs and outreach, in alignment with the university's mission to help students develop intellectually, spiritually, ethically, socially, artistically, and physically to enrich their own lives and the lives of others.
The office of First Year Experience promotes student persistence through programs, services, and instructional strategies with a special focus on institutional retention. Our primary responsibilities are to support and enhance SAU's signature first year experiences, including Learning Communities, New Student Seminars, and Service Learning.
In addition, we collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to develop and implement new initiatives that will enrich first-year students' transition to college and persistence to graduation.
