Step 1

Give the exchange opportunity some thought! It's a big commitment! What excites you most about coming here? What are you most uncertain about? Let us know if you have any questions about life here before you make your decision!

Step 2

If you're ready to start your journey to St. Ambrose, contact and work with the exchange or international office at your home university to apply for the exchange program.

Step 3

If you are nominated by your home university, send us your application materials by e-mail:

  1. Application for exchange student admission. Please note that if you do not have a Social Security Number, you can leave that field blank.
  2. Letter of nomination from your home institution.
  3. Copy of your home university transcripts.
  4. Evidence of proficiency in English: TOEFL (70) or IELTS (5.5) score report or letter from your home university confirming your academic English ability.
  5. A copy of your passport photo page and any visa and I-94 (if you are in the US on a visa).

Step 4

We review your application materials and let you know if your meet our admissions criteria.

Step 5

If you are accepted, a personalized Declaration of Finance form will be e-mailed to you. As an exchange student, you will receive a waiver of the cost of tuition. However, you will need to show evidence that you are able to fund your housing, food, books, insurance, and all personal expenses while you are here. The Declaration of Finances should be returned to us with supporting documentation, such as bank statements.

Step 6

Congratulations! You have completed the admission process. We'll send you a welcome e-mail and an acceptance packet in the mail that includes your DS-2019 Form, which you'll need for your visa interview.
