Project Management with SAU and the Lewis Institute

April 2011

St. Ambrose University has partnered with The Lewis Institute to provide several Project Management training programs and a Certificate in Project Management.

The Lewis Institute, founded by Dr. Jim Lewis, has built a reputation for delivering practical, hands-on instruction that provides tools and techniques you can use immediately upon leaving the seminar to manage your own projects.  The Lewis Institute insists that all of their instructors have real-world experience managing projects, so that they can go beyond the workbook content and answer your questions.

Dr. Lewis has been conducting seminars worldwide and has trained more than 30,000 individuals since 1981. Widely recognized as one of the top writers on the subject, Dr. Lewis has published ten books on his own.  His Lewis Method® of managing projects has been adopted by thousands of managers. Dr. Lewis and his team of hand-picked Lewis Instructors are very generous with their time in answering questions both during the program and after.

The 13 different program topics offered at St. Ambrose University in project management through The Lewis Institute include:  Project Management: Tools, Principles, and Practices, Team-Based Project Management; How to Communicate, Influence, and Negotiate in Project Management; Mastering IT Project Management; eXtreme Project Management; Managing Capital Projects; Managing Disaster Planning; PMP Exam Prep; Behavior in Organizations; How to be a Highly Effective Project Manager; Whole Brain Project Management; Managing Risk & Procurement; Mastering Agile Software Development Leadership; and Managing Healthcare IT Projects and Programs.

Each program is three-days in length and costs $1,395 each. This includes all seminar materials, networking luncheons, PDUs or CEUs. Discounts for corporate and SAU Alumni are available. The Lewis Institute is a registered education provider with the Project Management Institute®.

Participants can pick and choose which program fits their needs or they can complete the Project Management Certificate program by completing three core courses and two electives.

Some of the attendees from local organizations include Cobham Mission Systems, Rock Island Arsenal,  Per Mar Security Services,  Modern Woodmen of America, and RR Donnelley.

"This class is an incredible investment that can be applied immediately and cannot be passed up," says Michelle Fanter of Mc-Graw-Hill, Dubuque. "For us to be able to improve how we start projects is key to improving how they end up. I was able to take these skills and instantly start to apply them to current projects. I intend to come back to learn more."
