As summer comes to an end the St. Ambrose University theater department squeezed in one last picnic. The SAU Theater department annually hosts a theater picnic at the beginning of the fall semester. It's a great event for recruiting, meeting, and catching up with friends of the department.
Dr. Corinne Johnson, department Chair, was hopeful for 50 in attendance for the evening. However, to her great delight, there ended up being almost 90 students (new and old) gathered around the pizza and brownies. Those in attendance included faculty members, spouses/families, graduates, and students.
All summer, theatre students have been planning activities on how to spread the word for upcoming shows and events being held at Galvin this year. New this year is the potential of flash-mobs to promote events. Stephanie Seward '13 has high hopes for this event and needs participation to make it a success.
During the evening's festivities new members of the St. Ambrose theatre student representative board–the Callboard–were elected. The 2012-13 Callboard members are: Valerie Zawada '13; junior member Sidney Junk '12; sophomore member Brooke Shelly ‘14; and freshman member Zachary Meyer '15.
"I am thrilled at the turn out today, to familiar faces and new ones," Johnson said as the evening came to an end.
