The Essential Role of Psychology in Addressing the Challenges of our Aging Population

Dr. Steven Anderson will give a presentation that will focus on some of the most important challenges stemming from aging of the mind and brain.

Anderson, a clinical neuropsychologist and faculty member in the Department of Neurology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, will talk about ongoing research focused on optimizing functional abilities in aging, and ways of reducing the safety risk of older drivers. He also will address the essential need for a new generation of scientists and clinicians with expertise in the aging mind and brain within the public health system.

Anderson is director of the University of Iowa Neuropsychological Rehabilitation Laboratory. He also serves on the faculty of UI's neuroscience program, and is a founding member of the new Aging Mind and Brain Initiative at the university.

Preceding the presentation Psychology majors will be inducted into the Psi Chi International Honor Society beginning at 7 p.m.

The St. Ambrose Psychology Department and the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology are sponsoring the event.

The Rogalski Center is located on the St. Ambrose campus near the corner of Ripley and Lombard Streets, one block west of Harrison Street.
