About the Performers

In the 1980s, Michael "Piper" Cooney made a name for himself, winning multiple All-Ireland championships in pipes and whistle. He also spent some time in the U.S., where he played music with legends like Andy McGann, Paddy Reynolds, and Joe Burke.

In the late 80s, Kevin Buckley played fiddle all over the country with St. Louis Irish Arts CCE, and won many titles in a variety of music competitions (Fleadh Cheoil) both in the Midwest and in Ireland. While living in Ireland in 2001, Buckley also began songwriting (later released as Grace Basement) and broadening his range to include many types of folk music, blues, jazz, rock and pop.
