An annual event, the SAU theatre department hosts a picnic on the Galvin Fine Arts Center Mainstage. This year it was Aug. 25 during Welcome Week. It provided free food, the opportunity to meet and greet with others interested in theatre, and every year it's a lot of fun. During the meal students, faculty and staff discuss and receive information on the events for the year. Some of the things discussed this year were the different shows to be produced, future theatre trips, classes, and an introduction of the faculty.
The Call Board also elected new members during the picnic. The Call Board is a group of students, represented by one individual from each class, who meet and discuss what's going on in the theatre department. They have post-show meetings to help make important decisions such as the shows for the next season and plan the end of the year awards ceremony, a.k.a., "The Galvins."
The 2010-11 Call Board is: Andrew Benson '11, Grace Allen '12, Hannah Wilke '13, and Emma Williams '14.
This year we welcomed 25 new students/freshmen to the Theatre Department and we look forward to seeing them perform, grow and have fun with us this upcoming season. Thanks to all who made it out; you made the night very enjoyable. And don't be a stranger to the department–we love having you with us.
