On Jan. 26, St. Ambrose joined with Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) to host a Quad-Cities wide forum on the challenges confronting higher education in the United States.
Braley led the forum on the same day he introduced a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives to maintain a cap on student loan interest rates at 3.4 percent, a step President Barack Obama had requested in his State of the Union address two days earlier.
Braley led a panel that included St. Ambrose Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Paul Koch, PhD, SAU Associate Dean of University Academic Programs Tracy Schuster-Matlock, PhD, and Student Government Association president Mark Waitkus in discussing a variety of topics. Also on the panel were Jeff Armstrong, PhD, the vice chancellor for instruction at Eastern Iowa Community Colleges; Palmer College of Chiropractic Chancellor Dennis Marchiori, DC, PhD; and Palmer student representative Christa Scheffler.
Rep. Braley discusses his goals for the forum.
Tracy Schuster-Matlock and Mark Waitkus share thoughts on the forum.
