SAU Establishes Downtown Davenport Presence

02/24/2009

St. Ambrose University has established a new downtown presence in the DavenportOne NewVentures Center, located at 331 West 3rd St. in Davenport. St. Ambrose will initially use office space and state-of-the-art "smart classrooms" to administer the Master of Organizational Leadership (MOL) degree program and offer several MBA courses.

"We are pleased to engage in this exciting collaboration between the university and downtown Davenport," says Sister Joan Lescinski, president of St. Ambrose.

"St. Ambrose is 'in and of the community' and as such, we are constantly looking for opportunities to form mutually beneficial partnerships."

"This new partnership between DavenportOne and St. Ambrose University is an advantage for both graduate students enrolled in the program and the business community," says Tara Barney, DavenportOne president and CEO. "Students will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience by working directly with NewVentures clients."

St. Ambrose will continue to develop a strategic vision for its downtown presence, including other business and leadership development initiatives. Already in place, a collaboration between St. Ambrose and the Figge Art Museum has resulted in several exhibits, and other joint projects and initiatives are under consideration.

The Master of Organizational Leadership Program, or MOL, is an interdisciplinary graduate program of study designed to develop the conceptual and analytical skills necessary for successful leadership. Students take one course per 8-week session. The degree is designed to be completed within two years.

DavenportOne's NewVentures Initiative (NVI) is a regional business incubator and technology accelerator serving Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. Its clients ranging from sole proprietors to large corporations. The NewVentures Center provides technical services and office space to existing businesses and entrepreneurial start-ups.
