Ambrosians Live to Serve

01/15/2010

Anne Frank wrote, "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." St. Ambrose students have taken that sentiment to heart.

Studying, working and enjoying college life have not preempted service to the community. In fact, during the past academic year Ambrose students committed themselves wholeheartedly-to the tune of more than 15,000 volunteer hours.

Why do they do it? Senior Dylan Parker, who is involved in numerous service organizations and projects, says balancing school and volunteer work can be a challenge but, "it's basically the most fulfilling thing I do. It's not more important than schoolwork, but I get satisfaction out of serving others and from the knowledge that I'm trying to help people in the world."
