Ridin the Swarm Out

05/07/2010

A swarm of blue and white is again traversing the Iowa countryside in this year's Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa, July 25-31. The members of Team SAU 2010 will demonstrate their pedal mettle as the weeklong ride winds along the 442-mile route through Sioux City, Storm Lake, Algona, Clear Lake, Charles City, Waterloo and Manchester on its way to the banks of the mighty Mississippi at Dubuque.

Sponsored by the Des Moines Register, RAGBRAI is heading into its 38th year as the longest, largest and oldest touring bicycle ride in the world. Last year, seven hardy Bees of Team SAU biked the entire RAGBRAI route, through pain, rain, wind and cold, with scores of Ambrosians joining them on daily rides.

Spots for weeklong and daily riders on the 2010 team have been filled, but there are still lots of opportunities for Ambrosians to support Team SAU. If you live in or near one of the cities along the RAGBRAI route and would like to host a meal or be considered for one of the team's overnight stops-or simply join the group at its campsite staked with a huge Fighting Bees flag-contact the Alumni Office, 563-333-6290.
