Called one of the best wine festivals in the region by area vintner Dimitri Papageorgiou, the St. Ambrose University Wine Festival caps its ninth year with its signature event on Saturday, May 22, 3-6 p.m. on the St. Ambrose campus-and you're invited.
Under the canopy of St. Ambrose's historic oaks, the Wine Festival Wine Tasting allows guests to experience more than 100 wines and sample gourmet food from local restaurants, all while bidding on silent auction items. This year's featured winery brings its own local flavor: Practicing the centuries' old tradition of handcrafted winemaking at Landmark Vineyards in Sonoma Valley, Calif., are the great-great-great grandson of John Deere, Michael Deere Colhoun, and his wife, Mary.
Wine festival events proceeds go to support scholarships for St. Ambrose students. Tickets for the Wine Festival Wine Tasting are $45 per person in advance, and $50 at the door. For more information and to order tickets, visit www.sau.edu/winefest.
