Senior Spotlight: Monique Vos

Vos in SAU's production of "Agness of God"

October 2010

Hometown: Morrison, Ill.
Previous Productions: Thing 1 in Seussical Jr!, Agnes in Agnes of God, Visitor in Lettice and Lovage, Dawn/Imogene/Dogette/Girl 1 in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Laura Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie, and Stage Manager for Oedipus Rex.
Latest Project: Playing the adorable Mrs. Tottendale in The Drowsy Chaperone.
Why SAU?: I came to St. Ambrose initially because my brother ('09 SAU Alumni) really loved it and never had a bad thing to say about it. I also knew that SAU had a fantastic theatre program and I wanted to see if I could be a part of that experience.
Favorite SAU Experience: My favorite experience at St. Ambrose is honestly EVERY production I have been a part of in the theatre department. Whether I was operating light board or actually performing onstage, I have grown so much as an actor and a person from every experience and from what my great teachers have taught me along the way! Including operating a table saw in a spring dress. (Thanks Kris!)
Dream Job: Of course being an actress would be AMAZING!! If that doesn't work out, I have always wanted to be a mom. It's a hard job but if my mom can do it and be as loving and supportive as she has been for me, that's all I can hope to be for my children.
Favorite Actor/Actress: Shia LeBeouf and Meryl Streep
Advice for Freshmen and Transfer Students: Don't be intimidated or deterred by how close-knit people are or will be. It's actually a great thing and you will be just as close to those people in time. They will be just like a second family in the coming years and you will love them for that and more!
After Graduation: I'm getting married in June and from then...who knows! Working and hopefully getting some acting gigs!
