The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is honoring the 50th Anniversary of the Inauguration of John F. Kennedy with a two-week celebration, including the creation of a new scholarship program for performance-based writing inspired by Kennedy and his legacy.
St. Ambrose student Catie Osborn was selected as one of only three national winners of this prestigious scholarship. She appeared on stage at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Monday. Jan. 31, performing original spoken-word poetry, otherwise known as "slam poetry," which incorporates elements from storytelling, hip-hop and stand-up comedy to create a cohesive performance.
The award ceremony and performance is archived on the Kennedy Center's website.
