Opening of the Center for Health Sciences Education

U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) visited with DPT students when he toured the new building.

March 2011

In July 2010 the Physical Therapy Department moved into our new home, the Center for Health Sciences Education (CHSE). This new 40,000 square foot building also houses the Occupational Therapy and Nursing Departments. The building includes state-of-the-art classrooms; teaching space that simulates home health, hospital, and outpatient clinic environments; a computer lab; library; and a student commons.

Just like moving into a new house, we have hosted many events and open houses showing off the new space. We have been visited by Congressman Bruce Braley, Senators Charles Grassley and Tom Harkin, Thomas Frieden, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and many others. Alumni and friends have also stopped by to catch up and tour the new building.

If you have not seen the CHSE yet, we would love to have you visit and tour the building. For more information, call 563/333-6403.
