A member of the St. Ambrose University College of Business faculty since 2009, Dr. Brand was a passionate mentor and teacher. Just this past May, he was chosen for "Faculty Member of the Year" recognition by St. Ambrose students.
Dr. Brand began his career in communications working for a several political candidates, notably handling presidential campaign advance for Congressman Morris "Mo" Udall, Senator Walter Mondale, Senator Ted Kennedy, and President Jimmy Carter. He also worked for the Department of Transportation under Jimmy Carter. His career then led him into the private sector where he was a public relations specialist for the GD Searle Company, United Airlines, AMGEN Biotechnology and USA Track and Field. At age 50, he chose to change his career and become an academician. Shortly thereafter he completed his doctoral studies in marketing.
Dr. Brand earned his bachelor's degree from American University, a master's degree in public administration from the University of Southern California, and his doctorate from Touro University International in California.
Survivors include his wife Maxine, daughter Rachel, and daughter Ali and son-in-law Noam.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Israel Study Abroad Program, c/o John Byrne, St. Ambrose University Marketing Department; or to Temple Emanuel; or to a charity of choice.
