

As new Ambrosians settled into dorm rooms and college life, recent St. Ambrose grad Munir Sayegh boarded a plane for Egypt on a prestigious Fulbright research grant. His work? Munir is spending his year in Cairo examining Qur'anic manuscripts and other ancient examples of Arabic letterforms, studying with typographers and calligraphers, and eventually creating "a modern typeface family that can be used in advertising, graphic design and marketing in the Arab world," he says.
