On Monday, Aug. 22, more than 550 new St. Ambrose students boarded six school buses, bound for all reaches of the Quad Cities. Their mission? To "plunge" into their new urban community by providing volunteer service to a variety of organizations, neighborhoods and agencies. The first-year and transfer students painted, pulled weeks, chopped apples and onions, and visited with old and young alike, at such sites as Gilda's Club, World Relief, The Kahl Home, Nahant Marsh, Sacred Heart Cathedral and Cafe on Vine. Urban Plunge is a part of SAU's Welcome Week.
