The SAU Theatre Picnic is an annual 'meet and greet' activity for students, faculty and staff. This year it was hosted Aug. 25 during the middle of Welcome Week, and over 50 students attended. Besides meeting new people you get to come in, eat some free food, and learn more about upcoming projects, classes, trips, and introduce faculty members. Every year we get down to business but have fun while we do it.
Also during this picnic we get to pick candidates and vote for the Call Board. Each class elects one representative to meet and talk about what projects are being done in the Theatre Department. They are the people who help faculty make the important decisions on what shows are going to be performed the upcoming year and plan the award ceremony that is held at the end of every year, or as we like to call it: "The Galvins."
This year's 2011-12 Call Board Members are: senior, Grace Allen '12; junior, Stephanie Seward '13; sophomore Sidney Junk '14; and freshman Brooke Schelly '15.
One important announcement was introducing the September 2012 Faculty/Alumni/Student production of "You Can't Take it With You" that will be co-produced with The Curtainbox Theatre, an area professional theatre owned and operated by Kim Kurtenbach Furness (SAU Theatre Department Alum). This year, the annual picnic was a success due to all the students who attended. We hope to see each and every one of you grow and blossom in this wonderful world we call "Theatre." Thank you to all students, faculty, staff and alumni that could make it out to this special afternoon; it wouldn't have been the same without you.
