Dean's Letter

September 2011

Committed to the mission of St. Ambrose University, we equip students to build success–for themselves, their organizations and communities–through high-impact business, leadership and communication education, and the pursuit of scholarship.

We do this in four ways:

  • Connecting Education with the World of Practice: This is an exciting mission, as some 50 faculty and staff connect education with the world of practice for several hundred undergraduates and grad students, many of who do workplace projects, participate in internships, or interact with professionals in their classrooms.
  • Fostering Global Perspectives: The world is ever more interconnected. So we work to foster global perspectives in and beyond our classrooms. Several of our business students are from other parts of the world, and we are richer for their presence. This past summer 10 students from India were in the American Business Experience month-long summer program on campus, and we expect a larger group next year. We are actively exploring relationships with a number of international universities.
  • Attracting, Engaging and Retain World-Class Faculty and Staff: Our students have been blessed in recent years with the hiring of several top-notch faculty and staff from great schools. This is a strategic focus for our college, as we commit to being a place that attracts, engages and retains world-class faculty and staff.
  • Transformational Learning: All of this is to achieve our key strategic intent - transformational learning for students who will succeed personally and professionally, serving organizations and communities wherever they go.

We look forward to a great year and to hearing from you as together we equip students to build success for themselves, their organizations and communities.
