Senior Spotlight: Morgan Griffin

October 2011

Hometown: Danville, IA

Previous Productions: Lady Jedburgh in Lady Windemere's Fan, Mary in Rain, Young Girl in Hello-Out There, Ensemble in The Drowsy Chaperone, Peppermint Patty in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Linda Lou/Dogette in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

Latest Project: I am currently a Nurse/Tadpole in the musical, New Brain and the costume designer for the Studio Theatre's production of Touch.

Why SAU?: I was doing scholarship auditions for a number of schools and still didn't have a clue as to where I wanted to go. When it came time for SAU, I was greeted by a jovial man in suspenders; a tall, funny woman; and an intimidating, yet awesome older gentleman. After meeting those three, who wouldn't want to come here?

Favorite SAU experience?: Going to London with Cory Johnson and Owen Rogal most definitely tops the list. I had so many adventures there with my fellow thespians! Some were funny, others educational and the rest were unrepeatable.

Dream Job: Becoming a Costume or Set Designer for a theatre company. Or doing whatever Dianne Dye wants me to; I haven't decided.

Favorite Actor/Actress: Audrey Hepburn and Heath Ledger amongst many, many others.

Advice for Freshmen and Transfer Students: Enjoy your life in the theatre; don't stress about the little things; know when to ask for help; know when to keep your mouth shut.

What are your plans after graduation?: I am hoping to take a couple years off to get some life experiences and internships before heading off to grad school, preferably overseas! London, I'm coming for you!

Favorite moments in the SAU Theatre?: Dan Rairdin-Hale teaching me stage combat my freshman year, going to ACTF, always getting yelled at by Dan Hernandez and making Cory Johnson laugh at random moments. Seriously, every moment was a memorable one and the people I met will always have an effect on me.
