Social Media Workshop

St. Ambrose University Professional Development is hosting a Social Media Workshop on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.  

This workshop is designed to accentuate the practical use of social media and provide a wide ranging synopsis of the fundamental and exemplary application of social media on the web. Today, a substantial percentage of the population is now accessing content from social networking sites. Credibility, building relationships, visibility, familiarity, and trust are all enhancement mechanisms attributed to social media. The evolution of communication is upon us. Welcome to the world of social media!

The objectives of the workshop will focus on achieve articulation, fluency, and familiarity in the following social media categories:  Social networking, virtual worlds, discussion, publishing, sharing, curation, live casts, presentation, and microblogs. 

The instructor will guide participants through the systematic process of signing up and using Twitter, managing a YouTube channel, opening up and using a Tumblr account, and explain the advantages of select integrated Facebook features. All activities and specified social platforms are subject to negotiation in regard to what the class chooses to focus on.  

This workshop will be facilitated by Donnie Ingram. Ingram is the senior instructional designer in the Center for Instructional Design Department and marketing instructor for the College of Business at St. Ambrose University. Ingram's experiences include Distance Education, Multimedia (Audio, Video, & Image Manipulation), Professional Development, Technological Expertise (Desktop, Mobile Devices, & Software), Strategic Implementation of Technology in Education, Assistive Technology, and Social Media.
