Kris Eitrheim continues to enjoy his sabbatical and the stress free time away from the SAU scene shop.
Beginning Nov. 1, Eitrheim is the scenic designer for Drake University's production of "A Little Night Music," mostly involved in painting the set and drops. The set was built in Des Moines while Kris has been at home in Bettendorf. The lighting designer for the show is in Florida and having production meetings has been an interesting challenge. Instead of face-to-face meetings, the crew has been using Skype and phone calls to get things planned and discussed.
Eitrheim also found a new "fun" thing to occupy his time called Google SketchUp. It's an online program that allows you to draw and model in 3D and share it with friends. He is using it to produce the design for drops.
Another online program that he is exploring and learning about is Vectorworks, a computer-aided drafting software program.
The Theatre Department misses Eitrheim, but Drake should feel very blessed to have such a talented man giving them a helping hand.
