Freshman Focus: Meghan McLaughlin

Hometown: Davenport, Iowa

Major: Theatre

Previous Productions: I've done many different shows in high school but here at Ambrose I was involved with "A New Brain."

Current Project: Assistant stage-managing for "Dakota Jones and the Search for Atlantis."

Performer that has inspired you: Helena Bonham Carter is by far my favorite actress. I love all the roles she has played.

Favorite Role: I believe it was when I played The Twister in "The Wizard of Oz." I loved my costume and it was incredibly fun to be destructive on stage.

Dream Role and Why: As cliché as it may be, I would love to play Glinda in "Wicked." Why? Well because I think she would be a fun character to perform.

At what age did you get started in theatre: I started in theatre arts when I was around 7. I played a baby duck in a musical at a local theatre.

If you could learn anything from the SAU Theatre department what would it be: If I could learn one thing, it would be how to act in a professional theatre.

Why did you choose to come to SAU: I chose to come here because I wanted to be close to my family and also because SAU has a fantastic theatre department. SAU was totally the right choice!

Favorite memory so far of the SAU theatre department: Oh there is so many for just being here for a matter of weeks. I think my favorite memory has to be just the entire weekend of "A New Brain." I loved every second of working on the show and working with the most amazing and talented people.

Where do you see yourself 5 years: I really hope to be living a big city, New York or Chicago, hopefully working as a stage manager, at least that's the dream!
