Where did you study abroad? Bangor, Wales
How long were you there? Almost 6 months
Why did you choose to study in Wales?
So many reasons! The Outdoor Pursuits class was a big draw, but the location was great too. Bangor is nestled in the Snowdonia Mountains and on the coast of the Irish Sea. Studying in the United Kingdom made it easy to travel all over, if one chose to. Also, the program director, Tecwyn could not be beat, such a great guy!
What is your favorite memory?
That would probably have to be spending the night camped out in front of Buckingham Palace in anticipation of the Royal Wedding!
What was the hardest part about studying in a different country?
Coming home. I thought I would have a hard time adjusting to the culture once I arrived in Wales but I was so busy and learning so much that I really didn't have time to think about how I was adjusting. When I can home, everything seemed so foreign and I just wanted to go back.
How did your experience abroad impact you as a person?
I met so many people from all over the world and developed so many friendships. I learned so much about other cultures. I will forever be changed. Just about everything I do now, I relate back to my study abroad experience.
Any advice to other students about studying abroad?
Do it! It is one of the best opportunities you will ever have, and going while you are in college is the best way to experience something so unique.
