Brooke Schelly

March 2012

Hometown: Bettendorf, Iowa

Major: Public Relations Marketing/Strategic Communications and Theatre

At what age did you get started in theatre: Age 9. I played a bird in a musical about the rainforest.

Dream Role and Why: I would love, love , LOVE to be one of the female roles in "Into the Woods" by Stephen Sondheim. I would be happy with any role in that production, to be completely honest. The music is so much fun, and the story line is clever and entertaining. That production is one of my bucket list shows.

What productions have you been involved in? At SAU: Dakota Jones and the Search for Atlantis. I've also done a number of productions with Davenport Junior Theatre, a local children's theatre, as well as quite a few productions at Pleasant Valley High school in Bettendorf, IA.

What is the latest project you have worked on? The last show I was involved with was "Dakota Jones and the Search for Atlantis." During that production I was also involved in a one act directed by Morgan Griffin for the directing class as well as a 10 minute scene for the American College Theatre Festival under the direction of Valerie Zawada.

Why did you choose SAU? I chose SAU because I wanted a smaller school. I had heard from many alumni that the theatre program here was one of the best locally. Theatre is a very important part of my life, and after visiting Ambrose and meeting my new professors, I knew that it was the University for me. It was an extra benefit that it was close to home!

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be? I would love to be a performer on Broadway. I would drop anything if I was guaranteed a role in a production.

Who inspires you the most? My friends and family are some of my greatest inspirations. They help me through things in my life and shove me down the right path, I couldn't ask for more. They are my own personal muses.

Where do you see yourself in five years?  In five years I will most likely be doing something with one of my majors in a city. I would love to be in New York City performing or working with an advertising agency, but Chicago would be just as fantastic.
