After two and a half years of classes, 35 weeks of clinical experiences, a lot of hard work and many sleep deprived nights, 28 individuals graduated from the Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in December. This event was celebrated with a reception and dinner on Friday, December 16, attended by over 170 graduates, their families, and Physical Therapy Department faculty and staff.
Graduates Sarah Bernhard and Zac Cupples provided a humorous and heartfelt student perspective on their time in the DPT program. Stephanie Booth received the Joy Michelsen Award in recognition of her desire to work in the pediatrics setting and her successes during her pediatric internship. The faculty recognized Karla Steffensmeier with the Student Scholarship Award. The graduating students selected Dr. Sandy Cassady for the Special Recognition Award, and she served as the keynote speaker for the evening.
On Saturday morning the graduates were recognized during the graduation ceremony and received their doctoral hoods.
We wish these students the best of luck as they begin their lives as physical therapists. The faculty and staff are very proud of the DPT Class of 2011!
