John "Roy" Pomeroy '88 is immersed in a job he loves.
The 19-year Drake University Theater Department veteran serves students, faculty and staff in a variety of ways: as associate professor of theater arts, technical director for the department of theater arts, and technical director for the School of Fine Arts. In a recent Times-Delphic news story, the reporter writes about Pomeroy's early days at St. Ambrose, the place where his life's vocation crystallized.
"Upon entering the building at St. Ambrose, Pomeroy encountered an older gentleman carrying a gigantic ladder. Offering to help, Pomeroy carried the ladder into the theater and knew he belonged there. The older man, who turned out to be one of the professors, offered Pomeroy a work-study position as a technical assistant on the spot.
"'The rest is history,' Pomeroy said." Read the rest of the story.
