What country did you study abroad in?
Carlow, Ireland and Barcelona, Spain
How long were you in each place?
Ireland was a semester-long program so about four months. Spain was a short term summer program for 1 month.
Why did you choose to study in those countries?
Ireland was affiliated with my nursing program and I was able to take those credits there. It was also a plus that it was an English speaking country and I knew other Americans/Ambrose students also doing the same program. Ireland was also a country I had interest in visiting.
Spain was my second time studying abroad and I knew I would be more willing to step outside my box. I needed Spanish credits to graduate so it worked out nicely that I could take those credits abroad.
Best memory?
All the amazing times I spent with friends that I would never have gotten the opportunity to meet unless I studied abroad. I developed friendships that will last a lifetime.
How did your experience abroad impact you as a person?
Studying abroad allowed me to get to know myself a little bit better and grow as a person. It also reinforced my love for traveling and trying new things.
Any advice to other students about studying abroad?
Don't hesitate to take advantage of the opportunity to be in a new country with new people. The one regret I hear from students is that they didn't study abroad in college; don't let that regret be yours.
