An Ambrosian love story

Before they took their vows on April 28, Suzanne Murphy and Jeff Gustafson, both from St. Louis, felt compelled to have pictures taken on the St. Ambrose campus for their wedding album.

SAU grads, obviously. Right?

Well, not quite. Murphy did grow up across from what she described as our "beautiful" campus on Gaines Street. And her father, Michael, collected his SAU diploma in 1967. Barely, though.

Michael Murphy missed the commencement ceremonies that year because he was busy attending to the birth of his first daughter. They named her Suzanne.

"He had to show a birth certificate to get his diploma," his newly married daughter recalled.
