SAU Honors Military and Vets

07/13/2012

Sister Joan Lescinski, CSJ, PhD, president of St. Ambrose University, will proclaim Sept. 15 "Military Appreciation Day" on campus.

Current and former members of the military from within the St. Ambrose community and elsewhere will be admitted free of charge to that day's 1 p.m. Fighting Bees football home opener at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport. They and post-9/11 Gold Star Quad-Cities families will be honored throughout the day.

The event is being organized by the St. Ambrose Office of Veterans Recruitment and Services. Office coordinator Andrew Gates '11, himself a veteran, encourages SAU grads who are veterans to attend a pancake breakfast on campus prior to kickoff.

"St. Ambrose graduated 14 veterans among its spring Class of 2012 and hopes to see those numbers grow," Gates said.
